Welcome to the Welsh Shotokan Organisation of India (WSKOI) — a proud branch of the internationally respected Welsh Shotokan Karate Organisation (WSKO). Dedicated to promoting the true spirit of traditional Shotokan Karate, our organisation combines discipline, respect, character development, and high-quality martial arts training for students of all ages. Founded under the guidance and standards of the Welsh Shotokan Karate Organisation, WSKOI aims to bring authentic Shotokan Karate training to India while maintaining the principles, techniques, and values established by the parent organisation. We are committed to developing not only strong martial artists, but also confident, disciplined, and respectful individuals. At WSKOI, training focuses on the three core elements of Shotokan Karate — Kihon (Basics), Kata (Forms), and Kumite (Sparring) — while encouraging physical fitness, mental strength, self-control, and perseverance. Our instructors follow internationally recognised training methods to ensure professional and structured karate education in a safe and motivating environment. We believe karate is more than a sport; it is a way of life that teaches dedication, humility, leadership, and continuous self-improvement. Through regular classes, seminars, gradings, competitions, and community activities, we strive to inspire students to achieve excellence both inside and outside the dojo. As a growing karate organisation in India, WSKOI proudly continues the legacy and traditions of the Welsh Shotokan Karate Organisation while building a strong future for Shotokan Karate across the country.

What is Shotokan Karate?

Shotokan Karate is a traditional Japanese martial art founded by Gichin Funakoshi in the early 20th century. Known for its strong techniques and disciplined training methods, Shotokan develops physical conditioning, self-defence ability, mental focus, and respect.

A key feature of Shotokan Karate is its structured ranking system where students progress through belt grades while mastering kihon, kata, and kumite. Training develops timing, precision, discipline, confidence, and character.
